Newington Avenue Park (Triangle Park) Receives Capital Improvements
The Mount Royal Community Development Corporation, working with the Parks & People Foundation, was able to identify Newington Avenue Park as prime location for a stormwater management improvement project.
On Monday, April 25th 2016, after a year-long planning process, contractors broke ground and start converting the concrete park into beautiful greenspace. The goal of the capital improvement project was to create more area for storm water to be absorbed into the ground but to also make a more pleasant park. Completed in about a month, the long term effects of the project will allow the trees to grow larger and live longer, keep the park physically cooler by removing the additional concrete, and to help keep the Chesapeake Bay clean by controlling storm water run off.
